Gluten Free Foster Farms Corn Dogs - The Real Story

Share |

For all of you out there who really want to know the low down on those new Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs and their process, I just received this hot from Foster Farms directly. The corn dogs are GIG (Gluten Intolerance Group, an independent third-party certification group) certified, which means that they test for gluten to < 10ppm (USDA only requires < 20ppm), they evaluate all ingredients to ensure they are gluten free, and audit facilities where the products are manufactured for risk of cross contamination. In my opinion, this is as good as it gets for processed gluten free products. I am impressed and truly appreciate Foster Farms and their commitment to servicing the gluten free community with utmost care.

You can read their statement below:

Foster Farms recently achieved Gluten Free Certification in 2 of the further processing plants – Corvallis, Oregon, and Porterville, California.  The certification was granted by the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) through a program authorized by the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America.  The GF logo stands for the independent verification of quality, integrity, and purity of products. Products carrying the GF logo represents unmatched reliability and for meeting strict gluten-free standards. GFCO is the leading gluten-free certification program in the world.

The Foster Farms processing facilities are required to maintain strict guidelines and practices required by the GIG certification body and are GF audited by an independent third party GF certification system up to twice per year.  All ingredients are required to be gluten free and are labeled, stored & processed separately from other ingredients.  Foster Farms Gluten Free products are manufactured separately from all other normal finished products.  Analytical verification testing measures and sanitation practices are instituted, documented and confirmed with every production run.

Please note, according to federal regulations, a product cannot be labeled gluten free unless it is naturally gluten free or contains less than 20 ppm. This number is supported as within tolerated limits for Celiac patients worldwide by the Celiac Disease Foundation and the Celiac Center for Research at Columbia University. For additional information regarding labeling laws and the < 20ppm please refer to the following links:
